BaggageNew regulations for hand luggageGeneral restrictionsIn compliance with new guidelines set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on hand luggage, various countries have implemented restrictions on carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels on passenger hand baggage. As some countries have imposed these restrictions on both arrival and departure flights, this may affect your ability to carry duty-free purchases onboard the aircraft. Customers are advised to check with duty free personnel before making their purchases. Note: The above items are some common examples and are not exhaustive. Passengers may still carry on board the things they would normally take in carry-on baggage, such as cameras, personal music devices, books and clothing. Existing restrictions for carry-on baggage remain the same. The following items will not be carried in any part of any Tiger Airways aircraft and cannot be carried in passengers checked or carry-on baggage: Guns, firearms and weapons Explosives and flammable substances Chemical and toxic substances Luggage Upsize™Passengers are offered the choice to save if they choose to travel with hand luggage only. Passengers who need to check baggage in have the option of selecting a Luggage Upsize™ option to suit their needs at the time of making their reservation. A corresponding fee will be charged per passenger per one way flight. This excludes, but is not limited to items such as sporting equipment.Please refer to the Luggage Upsize™ page for full details. At the time of booking, select the Luggage Upsize™ option for each passenger in your party who wants to upsize. The amount displayed will be added to your total flight purchase price. If you require a different upsize option for the return sector, please book your flight sectors individually and purchase the appropriate Luggage Upsize™ for each sector. Passengers who have not pre-booked Luggage Upsize™ online at the time of booking have the option of doing so by calling the call centre up to 72 hours prior to departure. Passengers who do not exercise this option up to 72 hours prior to departure can still do so at the airport on the day of departure but will be limited to purchase only the 15kg baggage tier. Additional weight in excess of 15kg will be subjected to the prevailing excess baggage charges. Passengers who pay the Luggage Upsize ™ fee at the time of booking or up to 72 hours before departure are not entitled to a refund of the fee in the event that they do not travel or do not carry the upsized luggage allowance of checked-in luggage. Any excess over the Luggage Upsize™ option selected; will be charged per kilo at the prevailing rates in the common currency of the departure airport. Cabin baggageOnly 1 (one) small item of hand luggage per person, weighing no more than 7kg and with dimensions of less than 54cm x 38cm x 23cm, may be carried into the aircraft cabin. Any cabin baggage over 7kg will have to be carried in the hold of the aircraft and forms part of the total checked baggage allowance.Passengers are also permitted to carry one laptop free of charge but will only be accepted on a 'limited release' (i.e. entirely 'at your own risk' for damage or delay) basis. You may therefore wish to ensure that you have suitable private insurance cover in force for such items. See paragraph 'Prohibited items' for items not permitted in the cabin of the aircraft. Sporting equipmentAny sporting equipment, including but not limited to golf clubs, skis, surfboards, bicycles and musical instruments will be accepted for travel on a space available basis and is charged at a rate of S$35 or A$60 (or local currency equivalent) per item, per flight. Such items are accepted for carriage by Tiger Airways entirely at the passenger's own risk.Bicycles - the bicycle must be packed in a bicycle box or bag, only one cycle per box or bag will be permitted, the tyres must be deflated, the handlebars must be flush with the frame and the pedals removed or flush with the frame. Firearms and ammunition are not accepted for carriage. Musical instrumentsInstruments to be carried as cabin baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 30 x 117 x 38 cm. Instruments within this category include bugle, clarinet, flute, piccolo, trumpet, violin or viola and will form part of your free cabin baggage allowance. Such items are accepted for carriage by Tiger Airways entirely at the passenger's own risk.Any instrument exceeding the above dimensions must either be checked into the hold or a seat may be reserved and the appropriate fare paid. Carriage of live animalsThe carriage of live animals, including pets, insects, reptiles or any other form of livestock, both in the aircraft hold and cabin is strictly forbidden under any circumstances.Seeing Eye Dogs are accepted for travel on Domestic Flights within Australia. Carriage of human remainsTiger Airways does not accept human remains for carriage on any routes.Prohibited itemsPassengers are not permitted to carry the following articles into the security restricted area and the cabin of the aircraft but may be contained within checked baggage if local regulations allow for their importation:Pointed/edged weapons & sharp objects Blunt instruments |
