Why we're implementing these changes

Why is Tiger implementing this policy?

With the new Luggage Upsize™, you only pay if you have check-in luggage. This way, you only pay for what you need. Passengers with no check-in luggage can save on fares.

A heavy aircraft will burn more fuel than a lighter one. More luggage increases aircraft weight. When you bring only what you need, this brings down the operating cost for Tiger Airways. This means we can continue to offer the low, low fares that Tiger Airways is famous for. Passengers who do not check in luggage will no longer be subsidizing those who choose to check in luggage.

How is this savings for me?

With this new policy, you only pay for what you need. If you don't have any luggage to check in, then you do not pay for any charges.

This means we can continue to offer the low, low fares that Tiger Airways is famous for. Passengers who do not check in luggage will no longer be subsidizing those who choose to check in luggage.

For example, if you're travelling for a quick weekend getaway and have no check-in luggage, that means savings for you.

Other airlines offer free check-in luggage allowance, so why is Tiger Airways charging for check-in luggage?
