Children and infants

Children 2 years of age and above at the time of travel are required to occupy a seat onboard our flights. The applicable fare, taxes, fees and charges will apply.

Anyone 12 to below 15 years of age may be accepted for carriage unaccompanied on request by a parent or legal guardian at the point of check-in. Parents/legal guardians must remain at the airport until the departure of the flight. Prevailing laws of each country may differ in respect of the carriage of unaccompanied Children and Young Persons. Persons 15 years of age and above may travel unaccompanied.

Escort and special facilities are NOT available. Children below 12 years of age must be accompanied on the same reservation by a passenger 15 years of age or above, or a parent or legal guardian, who will take full responsibility for the Child. Proof of parent/legal guardian status must be shown at check-in.

The charge for carriage of Infants is A$30 per Infant per sector, when they are seated on an Adult's lap (maximum 1 Infant per Adult). Infants will be strapped to the Adult with a seatbelt extension during takeoff, landing and whenever required. No baby/car seats/bassinets are allowed in the cabin of the aircraft. If you are travelling with an Infant, Tiger Airways will allow, at no additional charge, 1 piece of Infant equipment, such as a pram or portable cot to be checked, in addition to any Luggage Upsize™ allowance purchased. Infants do not qualify for baggage allowance as they are not fare-paying passengers.

If the Infant reaches 2 years of age prior to the return journey, the applicable fare, taxes, fees and charges will apply for that part of the journey. For Infants not requiring their own seat, proof of age may be required (i.e. Infant's valid documentation). It is possible for Adults wishing to purchase a seat for Infants onboard the aircraft to do so, provided the adult fare for the seat is paid. In addition, Luggage Upsize™ options will apply, allowing for baggage to be checked into the hold of the aircraft.

Newborns below 7 days old will not be accepted for travel under any circumstances.

Tiger Airways will accept children 14 years of age or below, in groups of 10 or more, on the condition that there is a minimum ratio of 1 accompanying Adult per 10 children. For safety reasons, seats may be reassigned to ensure that each child is seated next to at least one Adult. In these instances, an "Adult" is considered to be anyone who is 18 years of age or above. Passengers are advised to contact the call centre prior to travel so the necessary instructions can be made.

Children departing internationally from Perth are exempt from the passenger movement charge.

Go to Travel documentation for photo-id requirements for Children and Infants.

For the purposes of this section, and unless otherwise specified, "Adults" are persons 15 years of age and above and "Infants" are persons under 2 years of age.

Travelling during pregnancy

Pregnant women must have completed their journey in full by the end of the 34th week of pregnancy. Flying is not permitted from the beginning of the 35th week onwards. A medical certificate is required to confirm that the passenger is fit to travel between the beginning of the 30th week and the end of the 34th week. You must contact our call centre to arrange such bookings.

Travel to and from the Philippines

Special regulations apply to persons under 18 years of age travelling to or from the Philippines.

Filipino persons under 18 years of age leaving the Philippines must be accompanied by both parents/legal guardians unless documentation from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been satisfactorily completed. Please refer to the DSWD for complete information.

For Alien non-resident minors aged up to 14 years (inclusive), travelling without parents/legal guardians, a Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG) must be obtained. It is highly recommended to obtain the WEG before leaving the point of origin.
